I enjoyed the link that you provided to learn more about Dianne Oberg. If she hadn't received that encouragement from her dad to stay in education, then there's not telling where she would be today. This reminds me of the importance of support. In SLM, we have to reach out to one another for support because we are the only one of our kind in our schools. Dianne Oberg has done a great job continuing to support media specialists through her distance learning program.

I really admire that Dianne Oberg spent 20 years in public schools. It makes me think she knows of what she speaks. I also found it interesting that one of her research interests is the principal's role in an information literate school. It is so important to have administrative support, especially since school library media specialists so often have to defend their jobs. Your presentation is clear and concise. Very informative!

I'm curious to find out more about her research on the roles of principals. We all have heard stories from opposite ends of the spectrum. It's something to keep in mind while interviewing...

Upon conducting my research on Kay Bishop, I noticed that the two have worked together on a number of books, articles, and other publications. Since her career background is in Canadian schools, it is encouraging that our "neighbor to the north" also has had some of the same experiences that we do in SLM here in the US. Well-written!

Hi Sandy,
I liked how your presentation was very concise. Providing links to additional materials was also very helpful. How she developed the distance learning program is the fact about her that interested me the most. Sometimes we take for granted the fact that we have programs like that available, not really thinking about who developed them!
